How do you deal with your manipulative mother?

Theoretically I can cut her off from my life completely but that's impossible to do. I still have relatives that are related to her. I have to put her name down as the in-case-of-emergency contact.How do you deal with your manipulative mother?
Teach her to do research on self absorbed behavior. Mothers are may have your best interest in mind but in doing so they forget that you also have interests. The symptom of self absorbed behavior is to manipulate to get your way. You will be surprized yourself when you read up on it. You will realize that the reason you can't make your mom change is because you attacking the symptom and not the problem. The problem is that she needs counseling for self absorbed behavior and insensitivity to other's needs. We all the mistake of taking things at face value. If you try to talk to her about not being manipulative you are attacking just one of the many symptoms of self absorbed behavior. Self absorbed people are entirely too much to deal with and bull headed at that. Hugs

After my divorce I had moved to a neighborhood that was closer to my mother-in-law who was manipulative and I had to put a point of contact. Her name was it. I stressed that I should always be contacted on all contact #s for me I supplied, but it was a comfort to know that if all else failed there was someone who as a relative would cover in a pinch. Then on that rare occassion when I took over or picked up my child I left it with a brief thank you and left without further discussion.

Now that I have some friends I have built a bond/trust with, I use them as my emergency contact.
Why do you say that your mother is manipulative? Can you give some concrete examples?

I'd like to offer some advice but I don't know the whole story. It will be unfair to you, especially to your Mom.
put someone else as your contact you can even put a friend!



My fiance has this issue and he told her no more or she will never see him again..you allow people to to it ..you have a choice to do it or not so DONT ..even if she gets mad
god cant come to this world daily to visit us.thats why he has sent mother in thi world. so dont hate your mother and give them love.
