How do you all deal with your parents bad mood swings?

I've noticed that my parents can have mean streaks. But it seems that as I get more and more independent, my mom still has a hard time letting me be, letting me live my life, and in some cases, will even turn hostile towards me. She is in her early 50's, so maybe its just hormones from a natural process but....

How do you all deal with a parents having mean streaks? I find that my typical blunt, honest nature culminated with my stresses in life make it difficult to deal with them, especially with my mother, even though I'm not a young man starting my own life. How do you all deal with your parents bad mood swings?
How about a parent's point of view? My son is old enough to hold a job and go to college. I got angry because he spends his days off with his girlfriend and not doing any chores at home. I do not mind him having a girlfriend, but i was pissed off that he left me to clean the basement in the rain while he slept in all day with his girl. I am telling him that this is not a hotel and if he wants to be independent, he can either pay rent or join the military. Maybe your mom is wanting some independence herself too. Do some chores and buy some groceries too. That will show your so called independence! How do you all deal with your parents bad mood swings?
Do as they say with a smile and a nod, especially if you are still living with them. Swallow your anger and exhale words of honor. Return blessing for cursing and kindness for wrath. This may seem stupid but I assure you that it will work. Let them worry about there emotions running wild. Show them that you have control over yours. P.S. If you are old enough, responsible, and able....look for your own. Live with em while you have too but if you can make it on your own...Go for it. Good luck
talk with them while you can. when ever they flip into those mood than just ignore them.......

Some parents have trouble to accepting life change from time to time. Children will grow and move out and establishing there way of living.
