Does your mother have Alzheimer's?

My Mother has Alzheimer's and hardly remembers me anymore.

It's sad because she cares more about her doll, ( that she thinks is a real baby) than she does me, when I come to visit her, she fusses over that doll!!

I do think it's kind of cute, she must have fussed over me like that when I was a baby.

She is funnier than all get out at times, then at times, so distant.

What are your experiences and how do you deal with it?Does your mother have Alzheimer's?
First, I feel for you.

My mom has a condition that is not Alzheimers, but basically the same result. I moved in with her about 4 years ago to be caregiver, and she's not as severe as your mom yet, but it's been getting noticably worse the last few months.

Luckily, she still knows who my brothers and I are, and most of her friends, but I'm starting to see her struggle for names.

Myself, I just keep on keepin' on. My brothers give me ';caregiver breaks'; here and there; sometimes by coming down so I can go camping or something for a weekend. Sometimes by taking mom on a trip for a weekend so I can just hang out at home.

I'm lucky in that my job is very family oriented, so there's no problem with having a flexible schedule to deal with the unexpected.

Basically, I'm glad that I'm in the position to keep her in her own home; not everyone is that lucky.

Good Luck, and I'll send a kind thought your way from time to time.Does your mother have Alzheimer's?
My Mom has Alzheimer's, and it's very strange to see her act so differently than what she used to be.

I don't get to visit her often, as I live further away.

She is in a nursing home and gives those nurses a hard time but they do like her as she can be so funny.

I actually enjoy being around Mom now, she's not as moody as she used to be, and more friendly. sad, but true.
